Report: Stone Wall Hazard

13:59 Jun 24 2019 Near Leenane, Co Galway

Hi, I was driving my Campervan on the N59 yesterday and had just come through Leenane, heading southwards. I had just passed the large hotel and seaweed baths and at the next left bend (perhaps 100m from the seaweed baths) I struck a large rock that was protruding from the hedge. This broke off my wing mirror and this will now need a very expensive replacement. I stopped in a safe place and went back to collect the broken parts and found that there were many more broken wing mirror pieces in the vicinity. I was not the first.
The rock is part of a permanent wall and was stuck firmly in place. This is plainly a long standing hazard and I will be writing to the council to seek the cost of the repairs. In the meantime, I would request that this simple repair is carried out so that no-one else suffers the same fate.
